Regulated Markets

This curated selection showcases brand, packaging, and digital design for pharmaceutical, alcohol, cannabis, and tobacco clients, demonstrating strategic thinking, compliance-conscious creativity, and visually compelling solutions for complex, tightly regulated markets.

Rothman’s

In the tightly regulated Tobacco market, manufacturers must market direct to retailers. I created trade show marketing experiences including booth designs, product knowledge digital games, booth staff attire, and take-away gifts. All with the goal of attracting new retail streams and introducing new products to the market. Trade show displays must be easy to set-up, ship, and tear-down.

BACARDI

Bacardi secured an insert into the summer edition of Food & Drink with the LCBO. For this project I was director and designer. We brought in an award winning mixologist, and sourced one-of-a-kind hand blown glasswear from the Distillery District in Toronto. We then brought in a chef to create new food recipe’s to accompany (and use) Bacardi products in their hors-d’oeuvre preparation. In the end we created a printed and digital, drink and food, recipe book.

msiku Cannabis

When legalization finally came to Canada, there was a rush to market for new Licensed Producers. This new industry was fluid and saturated. Due to this being a regulated space, and these regulations were being updated often, new companies were challenged with marketing their product. Msiku was an early adopter into the field of “Budtender Marketing”, recognizing that Budtenders have the strongest say in consumer purchasing habits. We created in-store counter top knowledge displays, and “Behind The Scenes” knowledge cards so that Budtenders would know and understand the Msiku brand and product line. This initiative pushed Msiku into the upper tier of craft-cannabis strain retailing, making their strains recognizable enough to be asked for by name, and their origin story known.

Pharmaceutical Industry

The Pharmaceutical space is tightly regulated and reviewed. Additionally the push for accessibility is a core directive, with the awareness that certain medications are used to treat conditions that are symptomatic with accessibility constraints. Within this industry colour, contrast, font clarity, and digital usability are key components within their brands and subsequent layouts. For this Verznio treatment guide, I created a base bi-lingual printed guide, followed with an accessible digital PDF which prescribers could send to their patients. This accessible guide was created using high-contrast photos, clean and clear fonts, precise readability for screen readers, and an interactive form designed specifically for visually challenged patients.
